In Croatia, these are Maraska Pelinkovac (factory in Zadar) and Badel Pelinkovac (factory in Zagreb). The most popular brand in Serbia is Bitter Leaf (manufactured in Subotica, now in Slovenia).

The choice of juice for a cocktail with Pelinkovac bitters is a delicate matter. It is desirable that the juice was not from sweet berries, but from those that have a sour taste – for example: pomegranate, cherry, orange.

How old is the drink? Already in the 17th century, liquor production existed in Zadar. One of the first factories was opened by a merchant from Istria, Francesco Drioli. He did a lot to equip the plant with modern distillation equipment, cared about the quality of the product. It was with his participation that the recipe “Maraska Pelinkovac” was created.

The Serbian Pelinkovac is also good. Bitter leaf. The bitterness of wormwood is felt less, it has a balanced taste and aroma. The aroma and taste of the drink are given by 27 medicinal plants, including honey. Pelinkovac should be drunk in small glasses and small sips. Can be added to coffee.
